4 Night Uluru & Kings Canyon Expedition

Day 1: Arrive in Uluru and self-drive to Kings Canyon & Light Towers

After arriving at Ayers Rock Airport you will pick up your car and travel through spectacular desert scenery towards Kings Canyon. (Total trip ~3Hrs bitumen road). Pass through Curtin Springs Station and view Atila (Mt. Conner). Stop for snacks or a famous Camel Burger at Kings Creek Station and depending on timing you could visit the Karrke Cultural experience before making your way to the luxurious Kings Canyon Resort. You will have time tomorrow to experience the full rim walk, but assuming you arrive earlier enough in the afternoon, you might consider doing the Creek Bed walk in the National Park. This easy 2.6km walk has you explore the boulder strewn canyon floor on the way to a lookout view of the canyon itself.

On arrival at Kings Canyon resort you may settle into your accommodation before your sunset experience. Light Towers at Kings Canyon is an immersive sound and light installation by acclaimed British artist Bruce Munro, internationally recognised for his Field of Light at Uluru. Your premium Light Towers experience takes place in the golden glow of sunset, where you will enjoy canapes and drinks with a native influence before wantdering through the incredible maze of sound, light and energy.

For another truely memorable experience consider the ultimate dining experience - "Dining under a Desert Moon". Imagine the romance of a table for two in a wilderness setting under a canopy of the Southern Night Sky. The only light comes from the moon and the flickering glow of the fire. (NB: Additional Cost)

Day 2: Kings Canyon Rim Walk, self-drive to Uluru & Field of Light Star Pass

This morning you will rise early and enjoy a delicious breakfast as the resort before making your way to the spectacular Kings Canyon. The rocky climb to the rim will reward you with magnificent views down into the canyon itself and of Watarrka National Park itself. Follow the rim of the canyon stopping to view the canyon gorge at look-out points. Time permitting, choose to descend to the green oasis of the 'Garden of Eden'. The full walk will take 3-4 hours and is rocky and steep in parts. It is for those with a high level of fitness. Alternatively, if you didn't have time yesterday, you may wish to take the easier, shorter walk to explore the boulder strewn canyon floor. Both walks are well signed and easy to navigate.

Return to the resort and check out if you haven't already. You now have a leisurely drive back to Uluru. You may choose to relax around the Kings Canyon resort and have an early lunch before departing, or stop in at Kings Creek Station or Karrke on the way back if you didn't have time yesterday. On arrival at Ayers Rock resort, you will check into your accommodation and rest and relax before your evening tour.

In the late afternoon you will be picked up from your hotel where you will visit the magnificent Field of Light art installation by international artist Bruce Munro. The Field of Light Star experience begins at remote desert location with majestic views of Uluru and from a raised viewing area you will watch as the last sun rays hit Uluru and as darkness gradually falls and the coloured lights of the glass spheres come to life you walk through the Field of Light. You are then welcomed back for sparkling wine and canapés whilst viewing the illuminated installation in the darkness.

Day 3: Around Uluru - Uluru Guided Base Walk at Sunrise and Sounds of Silence Dinner

You will rise early enjoying the sunrise as you walk around the base of Uluru to explore the most profound and culturally significant monolith in Australia. You will embrace the culture, geology and environment that is the essence of this amazing monolith. Your guide will tell the cultural Aboriginal creation stories associated with this central Australian icon. Along the trail you will visit waterholes and the rock art sites of the ancients and learn of Uluru's cultural significance to the Anangu (local Aboriginal) people. You will witness a spectacular sunrise and absorb the majesty of this powerful place.

Then you have a free afternoon to relax around the resort - you may laze by the pool or participate in the resorts afternoon activities.

Late afternoon you will be picked up and taken to the award winning Sounds of Silence Dinner. Sip on a glass of champagne with the sound of a lone didgeridoo filling the air as the sun slowly sets over Uluru. You will then be taken to a private dining setting in the middle of the desert for an unforgettable fine dinning experience that includes a star talk.

Day 4: Kata Tjuta Sunrise & Free Afternoon

Early in the morning you will travel to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) where your Guide will explain the geological history of the area. On arrival at the viewing area you walk to the best vantage point to see the 36 domes that comprise this spiritual place while watching the suns morning glow as the desert comes alive then you will have the opportunity to relax and enjoy an outback picnic breakfast. As you approach the entrance to Walpa Gorge, named for the wind (Walpa) that whistles between the massive domes that shape Kata Tjuta, the result of eons of weathering and continual upheaval, your guide will share the significance of this men’s sacred ceremonial site. Take a stroll between these mighty conglomerate rock walls as your guide explains how the environment and the geology have evolved over millions of years.

You will be returned to the resort where you have the remainder of the day to relax and explore the resort. You can spend your time relaxing by the pool, or participating in some of the free daily resort activities such as: Didgeridoo playing, Spear & Boomerang Throwing, Cultural dancing, perusing the Art Markets or enjoying Bush Yarns.
